After my pressing day went down hill…i woke up with a fire in my gut to squat heavy… i am not a great squatter and im looking to improve my powerlifting squat more and more.. what started as a simple day of squatting ended up into a pulling session of epic proportions !

  • Squat 5 x 3
  • Squat reps @ 75% 2×8
  • Speed dead lifts (conventional) 10×1 (off of 3 mats)
  • deficit pulls (2 mats) 3×8
  • Death

Traveled up to Port St. Lucie this weekend to train with close friends and other strongman… at the same time i had my eye on going to Raw Unity to see some serious power lifting… went into the day with “max effort” intentions… meaning i was going to as many reps per minutes, distance and weight allowed per lift… every set was to hit a burnout and max attempt… i hit 3 PR’s and actually felt amazing..finishing the day with a 380# stone PR to 50”… after that my soul was dead and i was ready for BBQ food and the platform

  • Viking press 2×8 2×5
  • Conan’s wheel  4 sets… (ending at ~ 510# hitting 2×25 revolutions)
  • Truck pull 4 sets at 50′
  • Stones 4 x 1 (hitting 380# after 2 failed attempts)

Super tired tonight..not much to say thats witty or handsome…here is the work my fellow vikings

 

  • Continentals 5×5 (hit a 250* PR)
  • Bench with sling shot 3×8
  • close grip bench with sling shot 3×15
  • floor press 3×30
  • Band Push Downs 3×20
  • Alternating D-Bell press 3×15
  • Chain FLies 3×25 w/ 10 second hold in the middle on last rep

Slacked a little these last couple days on logging my training but im back on track..this was yesterdays training but well wort the post..my pressing is getting stronger and im hunting for a 300+ push press sometime next week… things are coming into shape and the weight is staying in the right places..

  • log press 5×2
  • log split jerk 10×2 (for speed at about 60%)
  • Strict press (oly bar) 4×8
  • Vertical raises 3×12
  • Hammer curls 3×15
  • Chin ups 5×5

This lifting day felt more painful than helpful..but sometimes you gotta push through this sweet sweet beast and slay some iron…should has been starting to suck and my back has had better days but that is to be expected during a strongman training season…Hit the bench rather heavy but not enough to deplete me for saturday

  • Bench 5×2 (hit 360# for a double)
  • 5×3 band bench (somewhere between reps and speed…felt heavy but not enough that the weight moved slow)
  • incline D-Bell press 3×30
  • D-Bell flat bench press 12/10/8/6/4/2 (alt. presses straight through)
  • Super set: 3 sets of dips x 10/Band push downs x20
